About our song: By The Time You Get Married

‘By The Time You Get Married’ (EP ‘Honk, Punch, Smile’)

Melanie’s grandma used to say “By the time you get married, it will all be alright!” and this kind of sounded like a good song to her. It’s a song about everyone going through issues, and keeping up your spirit because there is always hope and better times ahead. It’s about being patient and grateful. Being happy with what you’ve got. Looking at the nice and little things around you, which you sometimes might oversee or forget. Trying to take things a little bit more easy if they are a heavy burden. And always keep looking forward to all the good things the future holds for you – which it does!!! We were over the moon when we heard that friends of us decided to get married after they heard this song, invited us to sing it at their wedding and it was such an honor for us – a moment we will never forget!

Thank you for buying and keeping our music alive!

Lyrics:

Somedays are made for troubles
When you get the birching
There ́s no question about this
(It) can be hurting
Another slap in the face
Let ́s call it one for the road
But don ́t you lose your faith
We ́re all in the same boat
We’re all in the same boat

It ́ll be all healed up
By the time you get married
Won ́t be looking back
On the burden you carried
Turn your back on the black seeds around ya
Take a ride on your roller coaster

The head wind turns out smelly
So wind up the window
Your candy got jelly in your handbag
I guess that ́s done now
Did you pour the money down the drain
As long as you can
While the sun shines make hail
Cause money makes the man

It ́ll be all healed up
By the time you get married
Won ́t be looking back
On the burden you carried
Turn your back on the black seeds around ya
Take a ride on your roller coaster

Sometimes when you don’t move at all
When you’re still and quiet
Waiting for the ball
Hold on, let go
Take a step outside
Felt so tired for too long now
Fighting windmills on the spot so tall
Sit tight, you’ll catch the flow
You’ll be much faster after all

It ́ll be all healed up
By the time you get married
Won ́t be looking back
On the burden you carried
Turn your back on the black seeds around ya
Take a ride on your roller coaster
